Clandillon Civil Consulting (CCC) is an Irish civil engineering consultancy that, through its work with many of Ireland’s biggest civil engineering contractors, has been involved in some of Ireland’s largest recent infrastructure projects including the N17N18 Gort to Tuam Motorway, Luas Cross City, N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin, N8 Dunkettle Interchange and most recently, the Bus Connects – Liffey Valley to City Centre scheme.
Our in-house structural team provides innovative structural engineering design solutions working across a range of structural projects including civil engineering, bridge engineering, inspection and structural assessment, temporary works, residential design and structural design for solar farm projects.
Due to the continuing success and growth of our business, CCC is now looking to recruit a Structural Engineer. As part of the multidisciplinary team you will be working on various transport, travel and water-based projects. The successful candidate will be provided with training to develop further skills in the design of civil structures, bridge assessments, bridge rehabilitation design, assessment and report writing, amongst other skills. Opportunities will also be provided to gain site experience if desirable.
Structural Engineer – The Role
Perform necessary engineering and design tasks to produce the project documents as part of the multi-disciplinary project team.
Produce design-supporting documentation such as design calculations, technical reports, scheme sketches, Designer Risk Assessments and specifications.
Follow the CCC quality system and CAD/ BIM standards.
Undertake design, modelling and structural analysis tasks using design tools such as LUSAS, Tedds etc. In-house training will be provided if required. Employ new skills on projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
Undertake in-house training to develop knowledge in designing civil engineering structures, Temporary Works, and the assessment of the existing structures.
Take ownership of project designs where you can apply the gained skills in practice. Develop design skills from option assessment to detailed design of new bridges and rehabilitation works. A range of skills will include design communication through sketching, visualisations, and drawings, developing calculations and analytical models, and preparation of design risk assessments and structural assessment reports among other skills.
Undertake bridge inspection training including inventory gathering, principal and special inspections. Develop planning and organisational skills for bridge inspections and site visits as well as report writing based on the inspection findings.
Coordinate the design tasks among the project team.
Provide support to the project team in the delivery of project design including drainage structures, VRS and parapets, and road furniture support structures such as signs and gantries.
Develop existing report writing skills and communication skills. Proactively communicate opinions and insights into work undertaken, provide input into design reports and take an active part in internal and external progress meetings.
What You Need – The Skills And Competencies
Honours Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
3-5 year’s engineering experience
Experience and interest in civil engineering structures
Able to multi-task confidently, with excellent management and organisational skills required
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Team player with the ability to work on own initiative as required
Confident in using all Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of and demonstrable commitment to health and safety legislation and requirements
Full Driving Licence
Current right to work in the Republic of Ireland
