Student Counsellor (Maternity Cover Contract)
Marino Institute of Education is seeking a Student Counsellor to provide mental health and wellbeing support for students. The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree or professional clinical qualification in counselling/clinical psychology, psychotherapy, or counselling, and full accreditation as a counsellor, psychotherapist, or chartered psychologist status by a recognized professional body.
The Counsellor will undertake assessments of students, carry an active caseload, conduct risk assessments, and provide crisis intervention and emergency response if required. They will also develop and facilitate workshops, provide outreach and consultation, and participate in regular external clinical supervision and continuing professional development.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of relevant work experience, clinical skills, and experience in managing a large clinical caseload. They will also have excellent communication, consultation, and teamwork skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Essential Qualifications & Skills:
* Postgraduate degree or professional clinical qualification in counselling/clinical psychology, psychotherapy, or counselling
* Full accreditation as a counsellor, psychotherapist, or chartered psychologist status by a recognized professional body
* At least two years of relevant work experience
* Clinical skills, including assessment, brief therapy, risk management, liaison, and referral
* Excellent communication, consultation, and teamwork skills
The appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a 4-month probationary period, and the successful candidate will be required to undertake essential compliance training, including Orientation, Health & Safety, and Data Protection (GDPR).
The current annual salary scale is €68,042 to €98,060 (9-point scale). Completed applications must be received by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, 15 October 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
