The E&I Design Engineer – Fire & Life Safety Systems will be responsible for the engineering design, technical documentation, and design‑phase support of fire detection, fire alarm, and integrated life‑safety systems across industrial projects.
This role is design‑focused and suited to an E&I Engineer with strong experience in fire systems engineering, standards compliance, and structured project documentation, particularly within life sciences, high‑tech manufacturing, and regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support the design of fire detection and fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with I.S. 3218:2024 and applicable EN standards
Develop and review design deliverables, including:
System architecture and layouts
Wiring diagrams, schematics, and panel drawings
Cable schedules, I/O lists, and instrument indexes
Support the integration of fire alarm systems with gas detection, BMS, and other life‑safety interfaces
Review tender and client specifications and translate requirements into compliant system designs
Project & Technical Support
Provide design‑phase technical input to Project Managers, commissioning teams, and site engineers
Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities from a design and documentation perspective
Respond to RFIs and technical queries during project execution
Participate in design reviews with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and review RAMS, commissioning documentation, test scripts, and certification packs
Compile handover documentation, O&M manuals, and as‑built design records
Ensure all design outputs align with regulatory, client, and internal quality standards
Maintain strong design control and document management practices throughout the project lifecycle
Required Experience & Qualifications
Degree, trade qualification, or equivalent experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, or E&I Engineering
Demonstrable experience in fire detection and fire alarm system design
Strong working knowledge of I.S. 3218:2024 and fire alarm system standards
Experience producing structured engineering design documentation for industrial projects
High attention to detail and strong technical writing skills
Experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or high‑tech manufacturing environments
Exposure to VESDA, suppression systems, gas detection, or integrated life‑safety systems
Familiarity with BMS, PLCs, or safety control systems
Experience supporting validation or regulated project environments
Strong analytical and design problem‑solving capability
Methodical, detail‑oriented approach to engineering documentation
Ability to manage multiple design packages concurrently
Professional and clear communicator with internal teams and clients
Strong understanding of compliance and regulated environments
