Job Title: Clinical Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry
Reporting To: Professor of Psychiatry and Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry
Location: Main location: Smurfit Beaumont Education Research Centre / Clinical sites
Contract: 12 months, part-time (0.5fte)

Objective:
The principal objective of the post is to participate in the development, direction, teaching, facilitation and examinations of the undergraduate teaching programme.
Participate in clinical courses such as ACLS, IBU and PALS and be refunded up to €450 on successful completion; (Full list of approved courses available from HR)
Refunds available up to €450 on passing approved examinations;
Benefit from up to 14 days Educational Leave to support participation on approved courses, exams or professional development activities
Clinical Lecturers and Tutors are eligible funding for the completion of an MD or PhD with RCSI (some terms and conditions apply)
Contract:
This appointment is available for a period of one year initially, renewable to a maximum of two further years subject to satisfactory performance.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Contributing to the clinical teaching programme in the senior cycle programmes
Contributing to the assessment of students in senior cycles programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of course content
Liaising with heads of department, project leaders for clinical competence and other relevant faculty members in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes
Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment
Delivering the curriculum at a number of sites e.g. assigned hospitals, RCSI Campus
Assist in drafting exam questions under the direct supervision of the Head of the department and Professors.
Coordinating exam standard setting
Assist in the creation of multimedia teaching content e.g. Videos; podcasts etc
Grading and recording of student coursework e.g. logbook and online quizzes
Assisting with student exams
Candidate Specification:
The successful candidate should:
Possess evidence of registration with the Irish Medical Council
Possess a keen interest in lecturing and interacting with undergraduate students
Possess excellent communication skills
It would be advantageous if the successful candidate had:
Previous experience of teaching and assessing students in an academic environment
Previous experience in research
Completed at least 4 years of clinical experience post-internship
