Role Overview: The 3 D Mechanical Design Team Lead is responsible for managing and coordinating all mechanical design activities within CEL, ensuring efficient scheduling, high-quality 3 D CAD output, and smooth collaboration with Project Management, Electrical Design, and Production teams to deliver accurate, efficient switchgear designs.
Responsibilities: Schedule and track all assignments within the 3 D Mechanical Design Team.
Report progress on mechanical design activities.
Work closely with the Electrical Design Team Lead and Project Managers to align design efforts with project priorities.
Liaise with Production to ensure a smooth handover of mechanical design outputs into manufacturing.
Ensure team members follow established 3 D Mechanical Design Processes, CAD procedures, and use approved design templates.
Maintain high-quality mechanical documentation for all projects.
Conduct and oversee design reviews to ensure technical accuracy, compliance with standards, and readiness for production.
Contribute to project planning by providing technical input and team capacity insights.
Support onboarding and training of new team members as needed.
Create and manage 3 D assemblies of electrical switchgear panels.
Develop accurate 3 D models of sheet-metal and machined parts.
Produce detailed 2 D manufacturing drawings, including tolerances and forming details.
Ensure designs follow company CAD standards and optimize for material usage and manufacturing efficiency.
Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each project.
Use and maintain the reusable mechanical design/component library established by R&D.
