Job Overview
As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities on construction sites. This includes ensuring that all work is aligned with project plans, schedules, and specifications.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Site Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methodologies and building regulations, as well as excellent organisational and time management skills.
Main Responsibilities
* Oversee day-to-day site activities and ensure all work aligns with project plans, schedules, and specifications
* Monitor project progress, prepare detailed updates for the Project Manager, and maintain accurate records of site activities in the daily site diary
* Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and tradespeople, ensuring efficient workflows and quality output
* Conduct regular inspections to ensure construction adheres to technical drawings, quality standards, and project specifications
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare management systems by conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
* Set out site works using robotic total stations, GPS, and other surveying tools, ensuring accurate measurements and layouts
* Manage plant, labour, and materials, including monitoring day-work activities and liaising with suppliers for timely orders
* Address technical issues on-site, interpret drawings, and communicate design changes or construction challenges to the team
* Act as the primary point of contact on-site for contractors, suppliers, inspectors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring clear and effective communication
* Report regularly to management on project progress, resource requirements, and any issues affecting timelines or budgets
* Collaborate with clients and consultants to resolve queries and maintain satisfaction while upholding the company's standards for quality and professionalism
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies and building regulations
* Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines effectively
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to manage teams and liaise with stakeholders
* Analytical and problem-solving skills to address on-site challenges promptly
* Proficiency in construction software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project)
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
* Team-oriented approach with the ability to build strong working relationships
* Adaptability to work in fast-paced, dynamic construction environments
