The candidate will drive efforts to develop and prototype new system solutions and approaches. These products will empower customers with a new class of powerful emerging workloads like augmented reality, virtual reality, machine learning, automotive, and IoT. This candidate will be in a highly visible position with an excellent opportunity to influence Qualcomm's technical direction, to lead the industry and change the world Possible Assignments Depending on Area of Expertise:The successful candidate will engage collaboratively across the company with core HW design & verification, SW, marketing, and product planning teams, to:Architect market-leading smartphone, tablet, connected camera, wearable, IoT, Automotive and other SoC products with best-in-class performance and powerConduct hands-on workload analysis including algorithm optimization and analysis of performance and/or power characterizations to help define our SoC architecture plans.Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class multimedia, modem, compute and memory technologies.Deploy simulators, profilers, or even real hardware to provide quantitative justification for architectural directions.Directly apply computer architecture knowledge of CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, cache coherency, virtual memory, etc.Effectively communicate experimental results, review with technical leads and peers, analyze outstanding issues.Creatively overcome obstacles to obtain the answers to architectural questions.Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems.Collaborate within a rapidly growing and world-class computer architecture teamMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.7+ years Systems Engineering or related work experience.Preferred QualificationsAreas of Expertise (the more the better):Candidates should have one or more of the following areas of knowledge and/or expertise:SoC / Computer ArchitectureMultimedia SystemsInformation securityPower management techniquesDigital Hardware DesignVerification/TestOperating systemsData structuresEmbedded SystemsSerial Buses & WiFi/BT communication protocolsSystemC/C++Graphics Architecture/systemsPower and/or performance optimization, simulation and modelingARM CPU/Neon Algorithm Design/OptimizationDSP Algorithm Design/OptimizationGPU Exposure/ExperienceOpen CL/GL ExposureLinux/Android Exposure/ExperiencePerl/Python/Other Scripting KnowledgeMachine LearningMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.ORMaster's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.ORPhD in Science, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of ASIC design, verification, validation, integration, or related work experience.References to a particular number of years experience are for indicative purposes only.
