This role is part of our Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO) Team in our multi-product biotech facility in Dunboyne. The Automation Engineer works across the site Self-Directed Work Teams and hub teams to identify and resolve issues in order to allow the site to achieve our Governance Pillars in EHS, Quality, Value, People and Delivery. This role will be part of a team responsible for systems engineering and for provision of operational and technical support to the site.
What you will do:
Bring energy, knowledge, innovation and leadership to carry out the following:
* Provide automation and technical support to ensure stable, efficient and robust operations at the site.
Maintain automation systems in an inspection-ready, GMP compliant state. Actively participates in audits as required.
Support escalation plan for routine and out of hours emergencies and response.
* Work as an Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Process Automation System (PAS - DeltaV) and manage process area while collaborating with cross functional teams.
* Work collaboratively on resolving obstacles and building relationships so as to maintain a highly effective and productive work environment.
* Investigate events and non-conformances and complete technical reports as appropriate.
* Monitor and optimise systems performance.
* Collaboratively develop requirements and recommendations for process changes and continuous improvement.
* Control, develop and modify software and process operation in Emerson DeltaV DCS.
* Provide appropriate support to ensure all automation system design, commissioning, qualification and validation is executed per requirements.
* Utilise Operational Excellence tools and techniques in completing designs, implementing technical solutions and resolving complex problems.
* Maintain specifications and standard procedures to align with industry standards.
* Establish and maintain best-in-class automation systems, process and methodologies around the management of automation specifications, GEP, reliability and technologies and the integration of a highly automated operating model across the site.
* Review and approve changes to operating procedures and the change control process relating to the systems.
* Identify opportunities, design and implement solutions to enhance the digital footprint at site and drive efficiency.
* Get actively involved by participating in inspections, GEMBA’s and Go-See’s.
* Promote an environment where everyone speaks up for our culture of safety and looks out for one another.
* Get actively involved in supporting the implementation of the lean management system.
* Encourage new and innovative approaches to improve the value stream.
* Utilise real-time data analytics for making decisions on the value stream improvement intiatives.
What skills you will need:
In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:
* Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field e.g. Biotechnology, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Chemical Engineering.
* At least 6 years of experience in an Automation Engineering function within Biologics, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices.
* Proven experience with control systems (DeltaV, Siemens TIA, OSI PI etc).
* Experience with computer system validation/SDLC and automation change control procedures. (e.g., GAMP 5).
* Experience with DeltaV Batch is essential, including understanding of ISA S95 and S88.
* Commissioning and qualification, test protocol development and execution.
* Networking experience (i.e., Ethernet/IP, OPC, Profinet, and Modbus TCP protocols) is advantageous
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and know when to escalate issues for resolution.
* Proven record of accomplishments in a regulated industry.
