To provide the highest standard of care to pre & post operative pediatric patients. We provide surgical procedures for pediatric cases from the age of 3 upwards.To provide high standards of communication when dealing with pediatric kids and their families.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesProfessional/ClinicalTo ensure the provision of a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Hospital, working within agreed policies and procedures.Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, utilizing research findings as appropriate.To provide leadership for the Nursing team to ensure a high and safe standard of patient care providing supervision and support where appropriate.Setting, monitoring, and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.Maintaining personal contact with patients, relatives, and carers, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times.Maintaining timely and accurate nursing records and ensuring that confidentiality is respectedStoring, checking and administering drugs including the intravenous route in accordance with NMBI standards.To work with minimal supervision in all areas within the specialty including, admission and recovery of patients and other related procedures.Communicating with and assisting the multidisciplinary team to promote excellence in the delivery of patient care.To prioritize own workload and that of other staff, ensuring that the department is managed effectively.To contribute to the local resolution, investigation and follow up action of any informal or formal complaints.Adhere to polices and procedures in place.OrganisationalCo-ordinating the admission of patients.Ensuring the safe discharge of all patients.Communicating and co-operating with other departments.Providing accurate information as required in relation to pre and post operative care, and particularly the notification of incidents and accidents to staff, patients and visitors.Assist in the effective and efficient running of lists, collating accurate information about patients and notifying the Ward Manager and relevant Medical Teams of list changes and patient progress.To take appropriate action to manage unexpected situations and changes, informing the relevant Manager as necessary.To be familiar with and use the computerised system integral to the running of the service.To contribute to Clinical Governance, achieving and maintaining the goals and the philosophy of the Hospital.Education and TrainingTo be responsible for providing patients and carers with up-to-date information regarding their condition.To attend relevant meetings, always communicating effectively and reporting back to the team.To identify own training needs and attend relevant study days/courses as agreed with the line manager.To participate in the development of appropriate strategies to meet new national and local objectives e.g. clinical governance and risk management .To attend all mandatory training required by the hospital.The above list is not exhaustive and additional / alternative tasks may be required from time to time as directed.Person Specification:Essential CriteriaNMBI registrationPaediatric Trained.Minimum of 2 years' experience in Paediatric CareAbility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.Ability to recognize a deteriorating patient and escalate the patients care in a timely and safe manner.Ability to effectively prioritize workload and patient care needsDemonstrates an understanding of managing resource.Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk.Motivated and demonstrates an enthusiasm for surgical patients both adult and children.Demonstrates a caring and sensitive approach to patient and family careAdaptable and responsive to changing needsAbility to use own initiativeAbility to identify stress in self and others and to take effective action to manage the situation.Self-motivated and able to work with minimal managementFlexible and adaptable to changing workloads/priorities.Manages time effectively, focusing on achieving priorities.Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to other staffAbility to influence others to follow a particular action.Able to provide advice and information in a polite and courteous manner.Ability to complete tasks to deadlines and to a specified standard.Flexible in approach to work.Desirable CriteriaPALS Trained orPEARS Trained.***To apply for this role, please visit***Closing date for applications is 9th October 2025Job Type: TemporaryWork Location: In person
