Capital Project Engineer (Contract) Packaging Projects County Wicklow 1224 Month Contract An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Capital Project Engineer to lead and deliver end-to-end capital projects within a pharmaceutical packaging environment. This role will oversee medium to large capital projects while ensuring compliance with all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage capital projects of varying complexity using established project management methodologies. Ensure all projects are delivered to the highest quality, on time, within budget, and in line with compliance and stakeholder expectations. Coordinate all phases of the project lifecycle from initiation through to handover and close-out. Lead cross-functional teams including internal specialists and external vendors. Manage scope, schedule, costs, and risks while ensuring alignment with organizational standards (PMM, cGMP, GEP, etc.). Drive problem-solving and planning sessions across stakeholder groups. Ensure safety measures are proactively implemented and maintained. Support inspection readiness and ensure compliance with procurement and accounting requirements. Technical Expertise Projects typically include: Upgrades to high-speed blister line equipment (Uhlmann). New product introductions within packaging, including format parts procurement & CQV. Asset care and equipment upgrades across packaging operations. Additional required expertise: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering documentation (layouts, P&IDs, supplier design documents). Proven capability delivering full project lifecycle: Concept & Basic Design CAPEX applications Procurement Budget, Schedule & Scope control Supplier and design management EHS integration Installation & CQV Handover & training Skills & Competencies Strong leadership, collaboration, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to influence stakeholders in a matrix environment. Innovative mindset with ability to propose and implement improved project delivery methods. Comfortable managing complex issues with a hands-on, practical approach. Education & Experience Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field (Engineering preferred). 10+ years managing projects or programs up to €3M in scale. Experience in a large corporate environment. Global communication and collaboration experience. Pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience required. Strong financial acumen and risk awareness. Contractor and supplier management experience. High proficiency in stakeholder management, facilitation, and presentation. PM certification (IPMA or PMI) is an advantage. High EHS & Quality standards.
