Regional Health & Safety Advisor (Grade VII)
Location: Southeast Ireland – Waterford & Wexford region
Salary: €60, – €65, + mileage reimbursement
Hours: 37 hours/week (Monday to Friday)
Working Model: Hybrid – Work from home, on-site, or from any regional office
About the Opportunity
Are you a people-focused Health & Safety professional who can engage, influence, and make safety a positive part of everyday culture — not just a checklist?
We're recruiting for a Regional Health & Safety Advisor (Grade VII) to take the lead on Health & Safety matters across a network of community-based services in the Waterford and Wexford region. This is a standalone, autonomous position — ideal for someone who thrives in a flexible, self-managed environment.
Rather than enforcing safety protocols from the top down, this role requires a personable, approachable, and persuasive communicator — someone who can bring people on board, build relationships, and make safety feel relevant, practical, and easy to engage with.
Key Highlights
1. Autonomy: You'll plan your own week — decide which sites to visit and when, and balance time working from home or from one of 10 key regional offices.
2. Blended Working: Enjoy the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week or choose any of the local offices across the Southeast region.
3. Purpose-Driven: You'll play a vital role in supporting services that benefit communities, families, and children.
4. Diverse Portfolio: The sites include administrative hubs, early years inspection offices, and family support centres — predominantly in Waterford & Wexford.
What We're Looking For
We're not looking for someone to "crack the whip." We want someone who can build trust, leadby example, and embed safety into culture through conversation, collaboration, and consistency.
Ideal candidates will have:
5. A Level 8 qualification (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety
6. At least 3 years' experience in a multi-site or community-based setting
7. Strong working knowledge of Irish H&S legislation and management systems
8. A likeable, down-to-earth communication style with the ability to relate to staff from all backgrounds
9. Confidence to work independently, plan and organise your own diary, and travel regionally as needed
10. An appreciation of traditional Irish workplace culture and the nuances of influencing teams in community-based environments
11. A full driver's licence and access to a vehicle (mileage covered)
What You'll Be Doing
12. Conduct and follow up on site visits, audits, and risk assessments
13. Support line managers with compliance, training, and ongoing H&S awareness
14. Create a visible and friendly presence across offices and sites
15. Lead by influence — gently, respectfully, and effectively
16. Report on findings, incidents, and initiatives
17. Promote a positive, proactive safety culture
You Might Come From:
18. Public sector (e.g., HSE, HIQA, Local Authorities, Defence Forces, OPW)
