Position Purpose/SummaryResponsible for supervising assigned labor projects and activities in the Municipal Traffic Division. Oversees installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment. Work is performed with technical independence, with considerable latitude for the exercise of judgment and decision making in accordance with departmental standards, under the supervision of the Street Maintenance Manager, who reviews work through reports and conferences. Supervision is exercised over labor crews in support of specific projects.Essential FunctionsSupervises installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal equipment. Inspects and tests traffic signal equipment. Replaces or repairs faulty circuits, relays, components or wiring for traffic equipment. Supervises operation maintenance and repair of specialized departmental equipment and machinery. Analyzes and makes recommendations for solution to emergency detours. Confers with engineering personnel and police officials concerning traffic signals and signs. Performs related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesKnowledge of traffic signal equipment and principles of repair. Ability to keep records of invoices and supporting documents. Knowledge of personnel principles and methods. Ability to interpret policy and procedure. Ability to plan, assign, supervise and review the work of others. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Education And ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent. Five years of related experience with one year of supervisory experience.
