Position Overview:
Working within Finning’s industry-leading field service department, and for the largest CAT dealer in the UK and Ireland, you will be at the forefront of the company's on-site diagnostic and repair capabilities for Caterpillar products.
As a PM Engineer, you will collaborate with the controller to maximize the operational availability of equipment for customers through timely and efficient PM servicing and machine inspections. You will identify potential issues that may impact availability and carry out minor repairs as requested. You will also serve as an ambassador for safety, ensuring service practices promote safety for yourself and the customer.
Job Description:
As a Finning Engineer, you will receive:

Major Job Functions:
* Preventative Maintenance Servicing (routine servicing of equipment per manufacturer guidelines, oil sampling) - 75%
* Machine Inspection (visual/mechanical analysis, identifying issues in hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, mechanical systems) - 20%
* Minor Repairs (performing minor repairs, installing telematic systems, undercarriage inspections) - 5%
Specific Skills:
Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics related to servicing and repairing heavy mobile plant or similar equipment.
Knowledge:
Either around 3 years of direct experience or working in related engineering roles (e.g., car mechanic, HGV fitter), or a formal apprenticeship qualification including at least C&G Level I. Formal health & safety training is desirable but not essential, as further training will be provided.
Accountability:
* Assess work scope at customer locations, agree on priorities, and ensure safe working arrangements.
* Communicate with the Finning controller and customer throughout the job to clarify work requirements and timelines.
* Complete work efficiently, assessing component lifespan and ensuring standards and safety are maintained.
* Engage with customers regarding additional work needed, providing quotes and liaising with the controller.
* Accurately complete all documentation and obtain necessary signatures.

Education and Experience:
* Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and vehicle electrics/electronics.
* Approximately 3 years of relevant experience or a formal apprenticeship with at least C&G Level I.
