Collen are recruiting for a Graphic Designer to join our in-house marketing team. This is a marketing‑led role focused on creating high‑quality visual content that supports the Collen brand, business development, and communications activity across the business, while reflecting our values of Integrity, Teamwork, Sustainability and Safety.
As a Tier 1 contractor operating in a competitive market, our visual identity is a powerful way to communicate our strengths. You’ll sit within the marketing and communications team, creating compelling brand content, polished presentations, and visually strong supporting materials that advance business development, build reputation, and reinforce Collen’s commitment to quality, collaboration, responsible delivery, and safe ways of working.
Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager - Experience Required
Professional graphic design experience, ideally with some exposure to construction, engineering, infrastructure, or professional services sectors
Experience producing professional presentations, proposals, or other corporate design materials is highly desirable
Candidates from agency and in‑house backgrounds will both be considered, with emphasis on the quality of work and relevant experience
A degree or equivalent qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related discipline is preferred; relevant portfolio evidence and practical experience will also be valued.
What You Will Be Doing
Brand & Identity
Uphold, evolve, and apply our brand guidelines consistently across all touchpoints
Develop visual assets that consistently communicate who we are, what we stand for, and how we live our values across the business
Support the creation of brand campaigns from concept through to delivery
Digital & Social
Design engaging social content across LinkedIn, Instagram, and emerging platforms
Create digital advertising assets including display, paid social, and email campaign graphics
Build and maintain branded templates within platforms such as Canva Pro, Adobe Express, and Figma for use by non‑design colleagues
Proposals & Client Submission Materials
Support the development of visually strong client‑facing and business development materials through clear layouts, graphics, presentations, and branded content that enhance overall quality, consistency, and responsible communication
Design pitch decks, capability statements, and presentation materials that support business development objectives
Work closely with our client submission and commercial teams to translate technical content into clear, engaging visual narratives
Video & Motion
Support the creation of short form video content, motion graphics, and digital assets
Edit and produce video content using footage from site, events, and interviews
Develop animated explainers and infographics to communicate complex project information
Content Marketing
Design thought leadership content including whitepapers, case studies, reports, and brochures
Create infographics that distil data and statistics into digestible, shareable visuals
Develop photography briefs and art‑direct shoots where required
Internal Communications
Support internal communications with engaging visual content including newsletters, intranet assets, and event materials that strengthen connection, teamwork, and awareness across the business
Design signage, exhibition stands, and physical marketing collateral
Produce branded merchandise and promotional material briefs for suppliers
Website & UX Support
Support website visual updates, landing page design, and UX improvements
Work with our web developers to ensure design integrity is maintained online
Create SEO‑optimised visual content including featured images, banners, and thumbnails, with attention to accessibility, clarity, and digital best practice
The Technical Skills & Experience
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
Strong working knowledge of Figma for collaborative design and prototyping
Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or After Effects for video editing and motion graphics
Experience with AI‑powered design tools such as Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, DALL·E, or similar generative AI platforms is desirable, along with the ability to use them thoughtfully and effectively
Solid understanding of Canva Pro and the ability to build functional, on‑brand templates
Working knowledge of HTML/CSS basics is advantageous. You don’t need to be a developer, but understanding constraints helps
Family‑ity with CapCut, Descript, or similar short‑form video tools
AI & Emerging
Technology Demonstrable experience integrating AI tools into your design workflow to improve speed, quality, and creative output
Awareness of prompt writing for image generation and how to achieve commercially usable outputs
Interest in exploring new platforms and tools, with a curiosity about how design technology continues to evolve
Digital Marketing
Knowledge of design requirements across digital formats, including specifications, file types, aspect ratios, and platform nuances
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how they apply to digital design
Basic understanding of how design supports SEO and conversion rate optimisation
Soft Skills & Mindset
A portfolio that demonstrates range, from polished corporate communications to creative campaigns
The ability to interpret a brief, contribute ideas, and provide constructive feedback with professionalism, openness, and integrity
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and external clients
A collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams and work independently when needed
Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities may evolve
What Success Looks Like in This Role
Within your first 90 days, you’ll have audited our existing brand assets, identified quick wins, established yourself as the go‑to design resource across the business, and delivered creative work that positively elevates the quality, consistency, and values‑led expression of the Collen brand.
Within your first year, you’ll have built a suite of templates and assets that enable the wider team to produce consistently on‑brand content, supported high‑quality business development materials, and strengthened how Collen communicates its values, culture, and reputation in the market.
