Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Role purpose
CityJet is entering a new phase focused on strengthening financial stability, reinforcing disciplined execution and creating the foundations for sustainable growth. With a simplified structure and renewed strategic direction, the business requires strong financial leadership to support operational delivery, reinforce governance and enable informed decision‑making across the organisation.
The Chief Financial Officer will be a core member of the executive leadership team, responsible for ensuring financial clarity, resilience and control while partnering closely with the CEO and senior leaders across the business to translate strategy into executable financial plans.
This is a hands‑on leadership role in a lean organisation, requiring both strategic judgement and operational depth.
Key responsibilities
Financial leadership & governance
Overall responsibility for finance, accounting, reporting, treasury, tax, audit and compliance
Establish and maintain robust financial governance, controls and reporting disciplines
Act as a primary financial interface with shareholders, board, lenders, lessors and external advisors
Ensure timely, accurate and transparent financial reporting at executive and board level
Cashflow, liquidity & balance sheet management
Own short and medium‑term cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning
Manage working capital and payment discipline with a strong focus on predictability and control
Support negotiations with suppliers, partners and lessors where financial structure and credibility are critical
Maintain balance sheet resilience and capital discipline
Budgeting, forecasting & performance management
Lead the annual budget and rolling forecast processes
Partner closely with Fleet, Engineering, Operations and HR to ensure assumptions are robust and executable
Develop and embed meaningful financial KPIs to support operational and strategic decision‑making
Provide clear financial insight to enable timely, fact‑based executive decisions
Commercial & strategic support
Act as a trusted business partner to the CEO and executive team
Act and perform all company secretary functions for Cityjet DAC
Provide financial evaluation of fleet decisions, contracts, investments and commercial opportunities
Balance near‑term financial discipline with longer‑term strategic objectives
Leadership & collaboration
Lead and develop a focused, finance and other relevant support functions
Build strong cross‑functional relationships, particularly with operational leaders
Promote a culture of accountability, realism and ownership
Essential criteria
Proven senior financial leadership experience (CFO or Finance Director level)
Strong background in complex, operationally intensive, asset‑heavy businesses
Deep expertise in cashflow management, forecasting and financial control
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in lean, fast‑moving organisations
Experience working closely with boards, investors or shareholders
High level of financial integrity, judgement and credibility
Desirable criteria
Qualified accountant with a degree or equivalent and ability to lead a Finance function. Experience in turnaround, reset or post‑restructuring environments
Exposure to private ownership or investor‑led governance structures
International and multi‑jurisdictional experience
Aviation, leasing or transportation sector experience is advantage
