Process Development Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Process Development Specialist to join our Engineering/Production department. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the manufacturing of products and developing the most optimum moulding process and tooling and automation that meets or exceeds customer requirements on both new and existing tooling.
Main Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement new products into our company, compiling standard specifications for each process and monitoring all existing production to standard specifications.
* Optimize processes using statistical techniques.
* Work with Production Group leaders (PGLs) in troubleshooting processing problems.
* Establish relationships with customers and Equipment/Raw Materials suppliers in pursuit of continuous improvement and ongoing business development.
* Solve customer-related problems/issues as needed in conjunction with the Quality department.
* Instruct others regarding manufacturing-related skills or knowledge and assist in the training of employees on new processes or systems introduced to the company.
* Communicate regularly with external suppliers of materials and equipment and provide regular feedback on any issues to the management team.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a National Diploma in Plastics Engineering (preferably a Degree in Engineering) and at least 4-5 years of experience in the injection moulding industry. They should have a good understanding of Injection Mold tooling and design, as well as Injection Moulding (standard process and Multicomponent), Processing, Ancillary equipment, and automation systems.
Additionally, they should preferably have worked in either the Medical, Packaging or technological industries and have some knowledge of Real-time monitoring systems. A strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of experiments (DOE) is also essential, along with the ability to demonstrate the use of these techniques.
The successful candidate will also have a good knowledge of the principles of WCM, JIT, SMED, and Kaizen, as well as knowledge in computers systems; integrated manufacturing systems; word processing and spreadsheets. Knowledge of MFG Pro would be an advantage.
They must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to accurately document work performed. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and travel as required by the position is also essential.
