Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Estimator to join our dynamic pre-construction team.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of civil engineering and utility works, combined with strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
About the Role
* Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of water, wastewater, power, and infrastructure projects.
* Interpret drawings, specifications, and technical reports to prepare accurate bills of quantities and pricing schedules.
* Liaise with internal teams including design, procurement, and operations to develop robust and competitive bids.
* Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and assess risks and opportunities.
* Conduct tender reviews and value engineering exercises to optimize project proposals.
* Support negotiations during pre-award phases and participate in handover to project delivery teams.
* Keep up to date with industry trends, market prices, and benchmarking data.
* Mentor junior estimators and contribute to the development of best practices within the estimating team.
Requirements
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
* Minimum 7+ years of estimating experience in the utilities, infrastructure, or civil engineering sectors.
* Strong knowledge of Irish construction and procurement practices.
* Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Conquest, Candy) and MS Office Suite.
* Excellent analytical, numerical, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
* Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
