We are looking for an Electrical Engineer, HV Assets with a minimum of five years' post-graduate experience to act as a HV assets technical specialist.
In support of ESB’s strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity, building resilient infrastructure and empowering clients, you will lead the preparation, development and implementation of technical specifications for HV substation primary assets. These will be utilised by key stakeholders e.g. ESB Networks, EMP Networks Project Delivery, NIE and external clients such as Eirgrid.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes the following responsibilities:
* Preparation/updating of HV primary assets technical specifications, technical schedules etc. required to complete tender enquiry documentation.
* Technical and commercial review of tenderers’ submissions and produce tender evaluation reports.
* Design review of HV equipment to ensure compliance with the technical specification and risk assessment of these HV equipment designs.
* Act as the technical specialist and client representative at factory audits, FATs, SATs etc.
* Carryout HV primary asset fault investigations in coordination with the relevant stakeholders and make critical design decisions and recommendations.
Experience and Qualifications
A Level 8 engineering qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills:
* Minimum of five years post-graduate experience in HV Power and/or HV T&D industry.
* Strong knowledge of HV primary assets such as Power Transformers / Reactors, FACTS (e.g. Statcoms, Series Compensation), GIS and AIS equipment and Instrument Transformers.
* An understanding of HV primary asset technical specifications and of how their lifecycle influences the technical specification. .
* A strong appreciation of, and commitment to, safety and quality of HV primary assets for their complete lifecycle.
* An understanding of tendering, tender evaluations, and the tender process.
Location
This role is based in EMP Dublin office at Dublin Airport but travel to project locations and OEM factory locations for short durations is a key requirement of the role.
