Base pay range

HealthCare Assistant – Supported Living Kilkenny
IWA is committed to promoting, maintaining and adding to our diverse and inclusive work environment.
As a Programme Assistant you will provide personal and activity‑based assistance to members of the Supported Living Services to enhance their independence, dignity and self‑esteem. You will work closely with members, their advocates, staff and coordinate with external agencies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Support members to maximise their potential using a person‑centred approach.
* Assist with personal care and daily living activities as identified by members.
* Support participation in social activities outside the home.
* Support independent living skills training.
* Act as a key worker and advocate for members.
* Complete the normal range of duties associated with upkeep of a residence.
* Promote independent living capacity of the people using the service.
* Work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and overnights.
* Implement action planning and reporting systems.
* Ensure health and safety standards are followed and report incidents.
* Work confidentially respecting privacy.
* Comply with IWA policies, legislation and safeguarding procedures.
* Carry out other duties as assigned.
* Record and report hazards, accidents or potential incidents.
Person Specification
Training, Experience and Qualifications
* A minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI level 5 (Major Award) Care Support or similar qualification.
* Relevant QQI Major Awards: Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, Health Care Support (include minor components as specified).
* Category B driving licence.
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong computer and administration skills.
* Experience working with people with disabilities.
* Understanding of the social model of disability and person‑centred planning.
* Understanding of independent living.
* Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English).

Availability
* Set roster on a 4‑week basis with varied shifts: Week 1 days/splits, Week 2 long shifts and weekend on, Week 3 mornings/evenings, Week 4 nights or overnight stays.

Remuneration and Benefits
* Current pay scale subject to 9.25% increase over next 2 years (2025 to Oct 2026).
* Flexible hours including day, evening, overnight and on‑call rota.
* Salary range €15.39 to €17.12 per hour (DOE).
