Meet the team
RTÉ is currently seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Regional Production Engineer to join our team in Galway.
Reporting to the Regional Operations Supervisor, this dynamic and varied role supports all aspects of media production under tight deadlines and high-performance expectations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality content efficiently and to the highest standards.
About the role:
The role involves close collaboration with the wider Regional Operations team across content production, audio, vision, studio, and outside broadcast support.
Installation, maintenance, and support of broadcast equipment
IT support and technical troubleshooting
Control room and studio operations (audio and visual)
Outside broadcast setup and support
Audio and video editing
Participation in project-based work
Ensuring efficient delivery of media content to the highest standards
An emphasis will be placed on the Installation, maintenance, and support aspect of the role.
About you:
We are looking for a self-starter who thrives both independently and as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills, along with the following:
A third-level qualification in a relevant discipline
Strong technical aptitude
In-depth knowledge of network-based broadcast systems
Proven ability to configure, troubleshoot, and maintain IP-based systems
Experience working in high-pressure, production environments
Understanding of audio and visual transfer protocols
Familiarity with health and safety procedures
Flexibility to adapt to various operational roles as required
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
A solid understanding of audio and video production workflows
A proactive attitude toward learning new technologies and skills
A full, clean Class B driving licence
Nice to Haves
Live studio operations and/or production
Studio maintenance & Repair
EFP (Electronic Field Production) or ENG (Electronic News Gathering) operations
Network-based audio and video systems
Equipment maintenance and diagnostics
Network system troubleshooting
Fluency in Irish (spoken and written) is desirable, as the role may involve working in an Irish-language environment.
This position will be located primarily in Galway with travel to regional sites as required.
It is a requirement of the role to be able to work irregular hours with a 7-day week shift liability.
This is an ongoing contract position on the Regional Production Engineer Grade, with a salary range of €42,014 to €70,547 gross per annum (subject to relevant skills, knowledge and experience).
