Quality Control (QC) Inspector/Technician – Roles & Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role:
To ensure all products and components meet the required quality standards and specifications through thorough inspection and testing, supporting compliance with industry regulations and customer expectations, particularly in critical applications such as medical, aerospace and industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspection & Testing
* Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components and finished products.
* Use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges) and visual inspection methods to verify conformity to drawings/specs.
* Conduct functional and dimensional inspections as per defined quality plans.
* Record and report non-conformances and initiate corrective actions.
2. Documentation & Reporting
* Accurately complete inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain quality records.
* Record and report quality metrics and inspection results to the Quality Lead or relevant department.
* Ensure records are filed and maintained in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
3. Compliance & Standards
* Ensure products meet internal, customer, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485 for medical, ISO 9001 for industrial).
* Support traceability and batch control through diligent documentation and labelling practices.
4. Document Review & Control
* Review quality-related documentation including drawings, inspection procedures and batch/lot records for accuracy and completeness.
* Verify that document revisions and changes are properly implemented and communicated.
5. Continuous Improvement
* Identify quality trends and work with engineering or production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
* Suggest improvements to inspection processes or documentation to enhance overall product quality and efficiency.
6. Equipment & Calibration
* Maintain inspection equipment in good working order and verify calibration is up to date.
* Report any issues with tools or gauges that could impact inspection accuracy.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Liaise with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues quickly and effectively.
* Assist in internal audits and customer audits where required.
8. Health, Safety & Cleanliness
* Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean inspection area, especially critical for medical product compliance.
