Housing Officer – Housing First

Role
Provide support to Housing First tenants in establishing and maintaining their tenancies
Key Areas of Responsibility
· Provide housing and maintenance supports to tenants
· Property Set up & Handovers
· Property monitoring, upkeep, and review
· Ensuring Housing First colleagues are appraised of progress in regards to timescales for properties being handed over ready for occupation
· Draw up Tenancy Agreement and discuss with tenant to explain the respective responsibilities of both parties
· Arrange for Tenancy Agreement to be signed
· Assist tenant in completing Rent Supplement, Household Budget forms or Standing Order
· Deliver pre-tenancy training
· Rent setting and annual rent reviews
· Monitor rent payments on a monthly basis
· Work with tenants to ensure tenants responsibilities are upheld and tenancies are being sustained
· Work within the framework of the overall objectives of the Housing First Service.
· Produce reports as required on the tenancies you are managing

Person Requirements
· A minimum of 2 years' experience in Tenancy Engagement, Housing and/or Homeless Services. (essential)
· A full driving licence and use of a car (Essential)
· Qualification in Social Care or a related field is desirable.
· Experience working with homeless individuals and those with complex support needs.
· A minimum of 1 year of regular use of IT systems with a good proficiency in Excel, Word & Databases
· An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
· Good organisational and time-management skills
· Experience in working with other support providers i.e. Homeless Services, SLI (Desirable)
· Understanding of why people become homeless or may be at risk of homelessness and the issues they present with, particularly in relation to substance misuse (Desirable)
· Respect for the values and beliefs of Depaul and its founding partners
· A commitment to and an understanding of equal opportunities and diversity issues
· A commitment to high standards of Health & Safety good practise
· Commitment to the provision of quality standards of housing for tenants
· Independent and self-motivated

While the line manager is specified above, this does not preclude higher level grades from directing or reviewing work or setting dotted line collaborative working relationships between same or different level positions.
