We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Department Scientist to lead the Microbiology Laboratory in Cork, Ireland.
The laboratory consists of the main bacteriology laboratory, a Serology laboratory, full molecular suite and CL3 laboratory processing Enteric and Mycobacterium work. It is Consultant lead and part of the hospital Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Committees.
Key responsibilities include:
* Test method verification and validation
* Technical/scientific aspects of the Department's work
* Quality Management System of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Candidates must possess Chief Medical Scientist qualifications and have a postgraduate degree in Medical Laboratory Science with registration as a Medical Scientist with CORU. They must also have approved qualifications for a Principal Biochemist (HSE grade) and 6 years' experience in a Medical Laboratory post qualification, with 2 years in a senior post.
In addition to these requirements, candidates must have experience in Quality Management and ISO Accreditation.
