Department operations Manager (utilities) – CavanJob PurposeIn partnership with our client, Glantech staffing are currently seeking applications for the position of department manager (utilities). The manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the department services across Cavan, Drogheda, and Cork, with the role primarily based in Cavan. The role is accountable for delivering commercial growth, achieving turnover targets, and developing a strong, high-performing team while ensuring service excellence and compliance across all operations. Although the role is largely focused on strategic oversight, there will be a small element of hands-on planning and coordination to support the teams and ensure a smooth transition into the role.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & GrowthDrive turnover growth of the department, ensuring profitability and sustainability.Develop and implement strategies to expand services.Resource the department effectively, including appointing and developing a competent Deputy/No.2 to ensure leadership continuity.Monitor budgets, forecasts, and KPIs, ensuring financial health and commercial success.Operational Oversight & Performance ManagementProvide high-level oversight of planning, scheduling, and service delivery across Cavan, Drogheda, and Cork.Lead weekly KPI meetings and daily huddles with the department to track performance, communicate priorities, and reinforce accountability.Make operational and commercial decisions that optimise performance and ensure excellent service delivery.Oversee compliance with all operational, health, safety, and environmental standards.Provide hands-on planning and coordination support during the transition phase. - This will include assigned resources.Relationship building the crew members to ensure high morale.Team Development & People ManagementBuild, mentor, and empower a high-performance team culture based on accountability, collaboration, and customer service.Oversee team bonus calculations, linking performance fairly to reward structures.Provide monthly team feedback and deliver individual corrective actions where needed.Lead the training and development of existing teams, building capability for current and future service demands.Strengthen succession planning by developing leadership capability and resilience within the team.Client & Stakeholder EngagementAct as the primary point of contact for key clients where required, ensuring satisfaction and strong long-term relationships.Provide commercial and operational input to sales and project teams to support new business opportunities.Key CompetenciesProven leadership with strong decision-making and strategic oversight skills.Track record in delivering commercial growth and managing budgets.Excellent people management skills: coaching, mentoring, corrective feedback, and performance-linked rewards.Strong communication and relationship management skills with both internal teams and external clients.Ability to balance strategic oversight with limited hands-on support when required.Commercially aware, resourceful, and capable of driving operational excellence.Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to lead change and continuous improvement initiatives.To apply:Please send a copy of your CV to
