What you'll be doing Build reliable, secure, and scalable backend systems.
Own complex projects and contribute to technical strategy alignment with business objectives.
Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in the technology underlying our services and related technologies, leading innovation initiatives.
Participate in code reviews and engage in pair programming sessions with peers to maintain high code quality.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and fix defects.
Contribute to technical documentation and specifications.
Lead and manage the entire lifecycle of features with support from the team, from conception through deployment, performance tuning, and maintenance.
Proactively identify areas of technical debt and inefficiency, propose and advocate for sustainable solutions, and implement strategies to prevent such issues in the future.
Work with engineering leadership and your team to foster a collaborative, cohesive and sustainable engineering environment.
Actively participate in feature discovery, working closely with Product and engaging with upstream and downstream engineering teams.
Lead by example in taking responsibility for all levels of testing, including setting up best practices for unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing, ensuring the highest quality of the codebase.
What you bring to the role Required experience: Understanding and familiarity with crafting and working with backend technologies Experience with Ruby on Rails, React and microservices architecture Experience with designing and implementing service-oriented applications Experience in relational database management systems and SQL Ambition and high motivation to understand complex systems, focused on identifying and decomposing requirements Good written and verbal communication skills.
You can effectively express your point of view to others and just as importantly, actively listen to others ensuring a good discussion Nice to have: Experience with TypeScript Some professional experience with Scala or an interest to learn Experience working with Datadog Understanding of SLIs, SLOs error budgets Experience with k8s PODs podded architecture Experience with distributed monoliths microservices architecture patterns Tech Stack Our services are written in Ruby / Ruby On Rails, React and some Scala.
We work with teams with services written in TypeScript and clients using iOS, Android and React.
We rely on multiple data stores such as MySQL, Memcached, Redis, Kafka, DynamoDB.

Please note that while the salary range represents the minimum and maximum base salary rate for this position, the actual compensation offered will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other relevant factors.
This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives that will be communicated during the offer stage.
Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week.
This role must attend our local office for part of the week.
