Senior Dietitian - Community Diabetes Services (Galway) Salary: €70,000 - €80,000 DOE | Full-time or Part-time | Contract Emerald Locums, on behalf of our client, is seeking an experienced Senior Dietitian to join a community-based service in Galway, specialising in diabetes care.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient health outcomes by supporting individuals to effectively manage their condition through evidence-based nutritional care.
Flexible working arrangements are available, with both full-time and part-time options.
Role Purpose The Senior Dietitian will provide high-quality assessment, education, and intervention for adults and young people with diabetes in a community setting.
The successful candidate will deliver person-centred care, working closely with patients, families, and multidisciplinary colleagues to promote better management of diabetes and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nutritional assessments and care plans for patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes Provide individual and group-based education on diabetes management, lifestyle change, and diet optimisation Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and other community health professionals to deliver integrated diabetes care Support the development of structured education programmes and resources for patients and families Participate in service development, clinical governance, and audit to ensure high standards of care Maintain clear, accurate, and timely patient records in line with HSE and CORU standards Provide guidance and support to junior staff and dietetic students where required Requirements Recognised qualification in Human Nutrition and Dietetics CORU registration (essential) Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience, with significant expertise in diabetes care Strong communication, teaching, and counselling skills Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development What's on Offer Competitive salary: €70,000 - €80,000 DOE Contract role with both full-time and part-time options available Community-based service with strong multidisciplinary collaboration Opportunities for professional development and training in diabetes management Supportive working environment with flexible arrangements If you are a motivated Senior Dietitian with experience in diabetes care and a passion for community health, we would love to hear from you.
