Electrical Systems Technician
About the Role
This is a hands-on opportunity to join a high-performing team at a major industrial site. As an Electrical Systems Technician, you will play a vital part in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of electrical systems and equipment.
Main Responsibilities
1. Perform routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on electrical systems including control panels, MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation, and VSDs.
2. Install, wire, and terminate motors, pumps, panels, and circuit boards in compliance with electrical standards.
3. Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
4. Calibrate and maintain instrumentation; use thermography and other predictive techniques.
5. Diagnose and resolve faults quickly to minimize equipment downtime.
6. Work safely in accordance with permits, risk assessments, and company procedures.
7. Support process improvements and contribute to system upgrades.
8. Collaborate with production, mechanical, and health, safety, and environmental teams to ensure site-wide reliability and safety.
9. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all maintenance work.
10. Participate in the on-call rota and provide out-of-hours support as required.
Requirements
* Fully qualified electrician with a National Craft Certificate or QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft - Electrical.
* Minimum 5 years' industrial experience in a similar maintenance role.
* Solid understanding of AC/DC systems, MCC controls, switchgear, and relay logic.
* Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, ABB VSDs, and SCADA systems preferred.
* Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
* Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in industrial environments.
* Confident working at heights, in confined spaces, and under time-sensitive conditions.
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
