Job Opportunity:
The Lead Estimator role is pivotal in shaping project bids and securing major construction contracts.
* Review incoming tender documents and brief relevant team members accordingly.
* Prepare and issue requests for pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, including scope outlines and necessary supporting information.
* Follow up with supply chain partners to ensure timely return of quotations, maintaining an up-to-date enquiry tracker.
* Collaborate with colleagues to raise and respond to clarifications or queries during the tender process.
* Identify missing information or gaps in the tender and address them through clarification notes and estimator comments.
* Assist in developing risk registers and identifying potential value engineering options.
* Analyse returned prices and tenders to assess competitiveness and completeness.
* Prepare detailed cost reports for internal tender review, highlighting both cost risks and savings opportunities.
* Compile the full tender submission, including commercial documentation, bills of quantities, and completed forms.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, and at least 6 years' experience working in estimating or quantity surveying roles within the construction industry. Key skills include strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
