The Technical Support team is responsible for ensuring that developers and enterprises can reliably build mission-critical solutions using OpenAI models. We provide technical guidance, resolve complex issues, and support customers in maximizing value and adoption from deploying our highly-capable models. We work closely with Technical Success, Product, Engineering, and others to deliver the best possible experience to our customers at scale. OpenAI's customers span diverse backgrounds and maturity, from early-stage startups to established global enterprises.
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Support Engineer to collaborate directly with our strategic enterprise accounts, helping solve some of the most difficult problems faced by our Customers. You will be part of the top technical troubleshooting team at OpenAI, providing guidance on complex issues. You will play an integral role in building knowledge within the team and be involved in strategic initiatives for organizational and process improvements. Working directly with our most strategic Customers, you will be crucial to the success of innovative, disruptive, high-scale AI solutions built with the OpenAI API platform.
The role is characterized by low volume but high difficulty, based in Dublin, Ireland, with a hybrid work model (3 days in the office) and relocation assistance available.
In This Role, You Will
* Serve as the dedicated technical resource and advocate for our key API customers, providing deep troubleshooting and education on our platforms.
* Become a leading technical and troubleshooting expert for our API platform, acting as the last line of defense before engineering.
* Partner with engineering and customer teams to resolve issues, engaging with senior leaders and coordinating resources across teams.
* Operationalize learnings from customer issues at scale, collaborating with engineering and GTM teams.
* Build strong relationships with customer leaders to ensure their application's success.
* Provide support coverage during holidays and weekends as needed.
You Might Thrive In This Role If You
* Have 5+ years in technical support or software engineering, with application development experience, preferably in fast-paced tech startups.
* Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar.
* Proactively identify technical pain points in solutions.
* Have proven experience building strong customer and cross-functional relationships.
* Possess humility, eagerness to help, and a desire to learn.
* Operate efficiently with high ownership, prioritization, and ability to switch contexts often.
* Have built or shipped prototypes on our API platform, developing expertise and product intuition.
* Prefer short, deep projects over long-term, incremental solutions.
* Enjoy tinkering, experimenting, and exploring new ideas.
