Responsibilities
* With respect to the Group's South African treasury entity (Aspen Treasury Ireland Limited or “ATIL”) to undertake day-to-day front and middle office operating activities and to provide dedicated support in the areas of accounting, risk, controls, reporting and analyses.
* To undertake review activities with respect to junior team members’ work and to undertake analytical/preparatory activities that enable the efficient functioning of Group Treasury with the ultimate goal of ensuring the Group meets its treasury objectives as outlined in the Group Treasury Policy.
* To review the work of others with respect to ATIL’s financial accounting system and processes from the generation and processing of transaction source documents (i.e. invoices) through to monthly management accounts and its annual financial statements ensuring that such items are accurate, valid and complete.
* To prepare ATIL’s periodic budgets in line with Group Finance’s and the ATIL board’s timetables and requirements.
* To undertake various tasks and activities that ensure the operating effectiveness of key risk management processes/areas specific to ATIL (including but not limited to its detailed risk and controls matrix and internal audit testing).
* Under direction from the Group Executive: Treasury (“GET”), to undertake supporting activities for facilitating the drafting, review and implementation of legal agreements necessary for the execution of ATIL’s strategy.
* Supporting the GET, to act as a second point of contact between ATIL and each of its stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met and that vendors/service providers meet their obligations to ATIL.
* To undertake front office activities (i.e. pre-trade counterparty engagement, trade execution and capturing to ATSA’s treasury system) and middle office activities (i.e. near-term cash forecast review, FX exposure identification and measurement, trade recommendation, validating trades captured to ATIL’s treasury system) with respect to treasury-related facilities, instruments and trades, ensuring that such activities are undertaken timeously, correctly, efficiently and in line with ATIL’s strategy, risk tolerances and standard operating protocols.
* Under direction from the GET, to undertake supporting activities with respect to management of ATIL’s bank and trading accounts with its banking counterparties, including account opening/maintenance documentation, know-your-customer procedures, establishment and maintenance of mandates and standard settlement instructions, and the creation and maintenance of master data records in ATIL’s treasury system so as to ensure that ATIL is appropriately enabled to operate in accordance with its strategy.
* Under direction from the Group Head: Treasury (“GHT”) and the GET, to periodically undertake administrative and coordination activities, and to prepare analyses, with respect to the Group’s treasury-related risks (including but not limited to interest rate, foreign exchange, liquidity, refinance, financial covenants, loan undertakings, counterparty, capital adequacy, cash optimisation, etc) which are aimed to ensuring such risks are managed within risk tolerances stipulated in the Group’s treasury policy.
* With respect to the Group Treasury Committee’s quarterly meetings, under direction from the GHT and/or GET, to consolidate the meeting’s information pack and draft meeting minutes ensuring that such items are timeous, accurate, focused, complete and helpful in assisting the committee fulfil its mandate in terms of the Group’s treasury policy.
* To prepare Group Treasury’s semi-annual reports regarding measurement of actual results against KPIs set per the Group’s treasury policy, ensuring the report is timeous, accurate, focused and complete.
* To undertake preparation activities necessary for the periodic forecasting, preparation, analysis, financial disclosure and hedge accounting of the Group’s finance charges (including interest and FX P&L), debt positions and derivatives, ensuring that the work is timeous, accurate, focused and complete, enabling the Group to better control and optimise these risks/costs.
* Subject to review and sign-off by the GHT and the GET, to prepare periodic assessments of the Group’s solvency, liquidity and going concern status ensuring that such analyses are accurate, timely and complete.
* Under direction from the GET and the GHT, to undertake administrative and coordination activities with respect to the operating effectiveness of key risk management processes/areas specific to Group Treasury (including but not limited to its risk register, delegation of authority, detailed risk and controls matrix, business continuity plan, internal audit testing).
* Under direction from the GET and GHT, to undertake preparation, administrative and coordination activities with respect to assigned treasury-related capital transactions or facilities. This includes documenting and implementing (including administration, due diligence and closing) such transactions ensuring each is well understood, documented and agreed to by such stakeholders, and that the implementation thereof is undertaken in an efficient, effective and transparent manner.
* Under direction from the GET and GHT, to undertake preparation, administrative and coordination activities with respect to the Group’s covenant compliance reporting obligations.
* To serve as an administrator on the 360T platform (or any other non-bank treasury-related platform), ensuring that user access to that system is appropriate and that the platform is functioning as intended.
* In consultation with the GET and the GHT, to conceive, develop, implement and realise new ways of working, technology enablers, funding structures and instruments adding value through risk & cost reduction, automation, simplification and/or optimising capital resource allocation within the Group.
* Under direction from the GET and the GHT, to undertake a supporting role with respect to other Group projects of a treasury nature.
Qualifications
* Formal Qualification: CA (IR) or similar qualification
* Distinction for final year mathematics at school level
* Chartered Accountants Ireland
* 4+ years’ experience (post articles)
