Hospital is a 500 bed Model 3 hospital providing acute unscheduled and scheduled care, together with services for Women and Children, for a population of over 300,000 in the North East area. Pharmacy services are provided to patients being treated in the following specialties: medical, surgical, orthopaedic, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatrics including neonatal intensive care, dermatology, oncology and haematology. The pharmacy team aim to ensure the safe, effective and economical use of medicines across a wide range of services including dispensary, procurement, clinical pharmacy and cancer services. Education, training and practice-based research are key parts of our service. The successful candidate will be working in a modern pharmacy department with the support of a large team of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Technicians. Service delivery is also supported by ward automated dispensing cabinets and electronic prescribing in specialist areas. Summary of Role Participate in the delivery of a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service. Including medicine reconciliation, patient education and working with the multi-disciplinary team to optimise patient care. Assist in the efficient running of the dispensary and supervising the operation of the dispensary, including procurement, patient education, storage, supply and the dispensing of pharmaceuticals.
