There are currently permanent and specified purpose vacancies for whole-time and part-time Staff Midwives at Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

This is a rolling campaign. A panel may be formed from this campaign to fill current and future vacancies, both permanent and specified purpose, for full-time or part-time roles.

Purpose of the Post: To work within a multidisciplinary team to provide a safe, effective, high-quality midwifery service to women, babies, and their families. The Staff Midwife will deliver evidence-based midwifery care in the maternity department, antenatal outpatient service, and community service as they develop, offering choice to women requiring maternity services in the catchment area.

Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications, and Experience:

* Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
* Candidates must be registered in the Midwives Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible for registration.

AND

* Have the capacity to discharge the functions of the role both clinically and administratively.

AND

* Maintain live annual registration on the Midwifery Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives with NMBI.

AND

* Confirm annual registration with NMBI via the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

Health: Candidates must be fully competent and capable of performing the duties of the role and in good health to render regular and efficient service.

Character: Candidates must be of good character.

Post Specific Requirements:

* Demonstrate experience in maternity care relevant to the role.
* Complete or be willing to undertake accredited neonatal resuscitation certification within an agreed timeframe.
* Complete or be willing to undertake accredited fetal monitoring certification within an agreed timeframe.
* Complete or be willing to undertake accredited breastfeeding/lactation programme within an agreed timeframe.
