Job Summary
Uisce Éireann is seeking experienced leaders to manage the operation of its wastewater network and treatment facilities.
The role involves leading teams of operators, overseeing maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards, and managing budgets and resources within a specified area.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Lead and manage the performance of operating teams, provide coaching, training and direction to maintain high service levels.
Operational Oversight:
Control valve operations, pumping stations, trunks, and other network assets; respond to SCADA/telemetry alarms and coordinate critical actions.
Maintenance & Repairs:
Organise the maintenance, upgrade and repair of newly commissioned assets through site training and resource planning.
Process & KPI Management:
Monitor and report on key performance indicators; capture data for operational planning and continuous improvement.
Budget Management:
Manage the cost of operations, coordinate the efficient use of vehicles, equipment and materials, and produce regular budget reports.
Customer & Incident Management:
Investigate complaints, update outage management systems, and coordinate incident or emergency responses with the Pollution Control Coordinator.
Health & Safety:
Ensure completion of inductions, implementation of construction regulations, workplace risk assessments, PPE use and safety documentation.
Participate in out-of-hours and standby work as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Secondary education or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3 years of direct relevant experience in wastewater/water treatment or distribution.
QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate (or equivalent) in pipefitting, plumbing or related trade is desirable.
Proven team-leadership experience with the ability to build high-performing teams.
Strong communication skills and ability to engage with internal stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of wastewater network operations and use of SCADA/telemetry systems.
Computing skills – creating and interpreting spreadsheets and data tables.
Understanding of health & safety practices, construction regulations, and risk assessment.
Experience in budget control or cost management.
Valid Irish Category B driving licence (clean licence required).
Additional Information
Out-of-hours work will be required and appropriate standby rates apply.
Location-wise, candidates must be within a reasonable distance from the assigned work area to enable timely response to incidents.
