Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised
Purchasing Manager
to oversee all aspects of procurement for our residential construction company. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will manage the sourcing, purchasing, and supplier relationships for materials, plant, and services to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This is a key leadership role with responsibility for driving efficiency, cost control, and procurement strategy across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals and project requirements
* Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for materials, plant, subcontracted services, and other goods
* Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best value while maintaining quality and delivery standards
* Maintain strong supplier relationships, including monitoring performance and resolving any supply chain issues
* Prepare and manage purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation
* Work closely with project managers, site teams, and finance to forecast requirements and manage inventory levels
* Monitor market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities
* Ensure compliance with company policies, health & safety, and relevant procurement regulations
* Lead, develop, and mentor the purchasing team (if applicable)
* Analyse spend data and generate reports to support business decision-making
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, or similar role (construction/residential experience preferred)
* Strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and supplier evaluation
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, procurement software, and ERP systems
* Knowledge of Irish construction regulations and standards is advantageous
* Leadership and team management experience preferred
Desirable
* Experience in residential construction or development projects
* Familiarity with supply chain logistics for building materials and plant
* Experience implementing cost-control initiatives and procurement strategies
