Financial Accountant Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for assisting with the production of monthly management accounts, calculation of accruals and prepayments, and maintenance of key schedules such as the fixed asset register.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that all Balance Sheet movements are accurate and up-to-date. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation of the Group's annual financial statements and annual audit, as well as group corporation tax and group VAT returns.
Your duties will include:
* Assisting with the timely production of monthly management accounts;
* Calculation of accruals and prepayments;
* Maintenance of key schedules such as fixed asset register, prepayments & accruals and intercompany accounts;
* Responsibility of all Balance Sheet movements;
* Assisting in the preparation of the Group's annual financial statements and annual audit;
* Assisting in preparation of group corporation tax and group VAT returns;
* Assisting in the preparation of budgets, forecasts and key performance indicators for the Group;
* Assisting in the monitoring of financial controls for the Group and assisting in internal audit activities as required;
* Maintenance of nominal ledger including transaction auditing, journal posting and expense coding;
* Assisting with ad hoc investigations and reports;
* Actively participating in any training and personnel exercises designed to improve standards and performance levels;
* Team management responsibility for function areas within Finance team such as accounts receivable, bank or accounts payable;
* Statutory reporting to governmental and regulatory bodies such as Department of Finance, Companies House and HMRC;
* Support and guidance for other departments within finance such as Accounts receivable, Accounts Payable, Invoicing and Payroll.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should display the following qualifications and skills:
* A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent);
* A minimum of 2 years previous industry experience;
* Previous experience of supervising or managing a team;
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
* Excellent attention to detail;
* Excellent interpersonal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills;
* Competent in IT, particularly Microsoft office and Excel.
