Key responsibilities include:
* Reporting to the Group Digital Editor, the Content Editor produces original and engaging content for our audience
* Editing content and assigning stories, ensuring content meets criteria in terms of style and quality in accordance with standards
* Demonstrable examples of SEO headline writing
* Sub-editing copy, writing punchy, eye-catching headlines – equally adept at covering breaking news stories to entertainment, sport and business news.
* The role requires an ability to come up with and contribute to layout ideas, combining pictures, video and graphics with inspiring headlines.
* Delivering vibrant, clean copy to very tight deadlines.
Essential Skills / Experience:
* To be considered for this role, candidates must have 2 years + experience in a similar role in a newsroom under exacting deadlines
* Relevant 3rd-level qualification.
* A passion for news and excellent news judgement.
* Excellent knowledge of libel law in Ireland is a requirement
* Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to write engaging headlines
* Candidates must also be comfortable working with data sets to help make informed homepage decisions to drive user engagement
* Candidates must also be able to demonstrate the ability to write engaging social media posts that will drive users to the page
* Strong writing, editing, photoshop, word press skills, social media management
* Good SEO understanding
* Strong Communication and people skills

We operate a hybrid working model where 3 days + per week is worked from the office. This role involves some evening and weekend work
