Overview of role:
UPMC Whitfield Hospital is recruiting a Staff Nurse Orthopaedics on an 11-month fixed term contract.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing high-quality, patient-centred care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Developing and maintaining good relationships with team members.
* Developing specialist knowledge in orthopaedic nursing practice.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical:
* Delivering the highest standards of patient care.
* Acting as preceptor and mentor for students and new staff.
* Collaborating with educational departments and maintaining UPMC Whitfield as a learning environment.
* Communicating effectively within the team and supporting the unit manager.
* Ensuring patient safety and advocating for patients.
* Maintaining professional standards and registration.
Quality & Audit:
* Participating in clinical audits and research activities.
* Ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
Health and Safety:
* Adhering to hospital policies on fire safety, infection control, and health and safety regulations.
Professional & Education:
* Developing skills for shift coordination and workload management.
* Managing medication administration according to guidelines.
* Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to GDPR.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Registered General Nurse with NMBI.
* Experience in orthopaedics or general inpatient wards is essential.
* Paediatric experience is desirable.
