Position: Equipment and Controls Technician (Finance)
The Equipment and Controls Technician (E&C Tech) is based at Kinder Morgan's Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) Eden, New York Compressor Station. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday with some on-call responsibilities during nights and weekends. Primary Purpose:
Implement and maintain electrical power circuits, control and automation systems, and electronic and pneumatic equipment used in pipeline, compressor stations, pump stations, plant operations, and measurement facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Install, inspect, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic equipment, along with documentation of all activities.
* Perform preventative maintenance on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
* Conduct Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on all control systems.
* Identify, report, and address safety and environmental concerns.
* Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Demonstrate operational excellence and mentor colleagues.
* Maintain electrical switchgear and power distribution systems.
* Lead advanced engine/compressor/pump analytical testing and implement improvements based on findings.
* Assist with the evaluation, development, and maintenance of facility grounding systems.
* Install, analyze, and repair security/intrusion systems.
* Perform general upkeep and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
* Oversee third-party construction and maintenance activities.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Educational:
Two-year associate degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
Experience/Knowledge:
* Knowledge of National Electric Codes.
* Proficiency with electronic test instruments.
* Understanding of process controls and gas processing fundamentals.
* Experience with electrical circuit drawings and blueprints.
* Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams and measurements.
* Knowledge of company policies, regulatory, and tariff requirements.
Certifications and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; may require a commercial driver’s license and certifications as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
* Availability for callouts and emergencies, including after hours.
* Willingness to travel and work overtime.
* Strong job planning, prioritization, and communication skills.
* Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, company software).
* Basic math skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
* Ability to withstand extreme weather conditions.
* Ability to enter confined spaces, work at heights, and lift weights up to 50 pounds.
* Work may involve low-lit areas and shift work.
Preferred but Not Required:
* Experience with handling flammable gases, high-pressure systems, electronic equipment, and gas turbines.
