Our retail shops play a crucial role in raising funds and awareness for our mission.
Role Overview
As a Retail Assistant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of one of our retail shops. You will provide excellent customer service, support shop operations, and help maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for shoppers, staff, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
* Customer Service: Greet and assist customers, handle queries and complaints in a professional manner.
* Sales: Operate the till, process sales transactions accurately, and meet daily sales targets.
* Merchandising: Assist in pricing, displaying, and rotating stock to maintain an appealing and well-organised shop floor.
* Stock Management: Sort, price, and replenish donations; support inventory and stockroom organisation.
* Volunteer Support: Work collaboratively with volunteers and help onboard new team members where needed.
* Cleanliness and Safety: Ensure the shop is clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety guidelines.
* Promoting Respect: Act as an ambassador for our mission and projects, helping to raise awareness among customers.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* A customer-focused attitude with a passion for community engagement.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
* Flexibility and willingness to perform varied tasks in a busy retail environment.
* Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a retail or charity shop setting.
* Knowledge or interest in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
* Experience working with volunteers.
