We are currently hiring a Medical Scientist – Histology for our client hospital in Dublin, Ireland .
Responsibilities Support the development, maintenance, and enforcement of laboratory procedures, ensuring all testing equipment and processes meet best-practice standards.
Assist in optimising laboratory operations, implementing efficient operational procedures to maximise resource utilisation.
Contribute to a patient-centred quality management programme, including performance monitoring, auditing, and client satisfaction evaluation.
Deliver scientific work in compliance with INAB and JCI accreditation standards, under the guidance of the Senior Medical Scientist and Laboratory Manager.
Effectively prioritise and manage workload during busy periods, coordinating multiple concurrent tests while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support the introduction of new technologies, innovations, and research projects in line with hospital policies.
Maintain oversight of laboratory stocks, non-conformances, complaints, and equipment issues, ensuring accurate documentation, investigation, and reporting to management.
Participate in staff training, professional development, and knowledge sharing, fostering a professional, communicative, and collaborative laboratory environment.
Support health, safety, and risk management initiatives, ensuring compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and hospital safety policies.
Utilise laboratory information systems and data reporting tools to support departmental activity tracking, quality assurance, reviews, and continuous service improvement, while demonstrating flexibility to meet service needs.
Requirements Hold membership or be eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM), CORU, or an equivalent recognised body.
Have a minimum of one year in-service training across core laboratory disciplines.
Demonstrate essential experience in Histology, with Cut-Up experience considered an advantage.
Possess relevant post-qualification laboratory experience.
Work collaboratively with laboratory management and hospital departments to ensure effective and timely laboratory service delivery.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills, maintaining a professional, committed, and patient-focused approach.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to ongoing changes within health services.
Show a strong understanding of modern laboratory services, including workflow, quality, and service provision.
Be knowledgeable in contemporary laboratory science techniques and methodologies.
Demonstrate awareness of accreditation standards, legislative requirements, and quality assurance principles governing laboratory practice.
