The Accountant will support the Project Controls function by analysing, monitoring, and reporting project costs on a construction project. The role focuses on ensuring accurate cost capture and reporting, and forecast support, using COINS and other cost control tools.
Working closely with the Project Controls Manager and project teams, the role will contribute to effective cost control, commercial awareness, and cost control performance of the project.

Key Responsibilities include:
Project Cost Analysis & Reporting
* Analyse project costs, commitments, and actual expenditure against approved budgets
* Assist with preparation of monthly cost reports, cost trend analysis, and forecasts
* Support cost value reconciliation (CVR) processes in collaboration with the commercial and project controls teams
* Identify cost variances, risks, and opportunities and support explanation of movements
COINS & Financial Systems
* Input, review, and maintain cost data within COINS in line with project cost structures
* Support reconciliation between COINS and project cost reports
* Assist in ensuring accurate cost coding, allocation, and data integrity within COINS
* Support system reporting and data extraction for project controls analysis
Budgeting & Forecasting Support
* Assist in maintaining project budgets and approved cost baselines
* Support short‑term and long‑term cost forecasting activities
* Track changes, variations, and adjustments affecting project costs
Invoicing, Accruals & Financial Close
* Assist with review of supplier and subcontractor invoices from a cost analysis perspective
* Support preparation of monthly accruals and prepayments
* Assist with period‑end close processes and audit queries related to project costs
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
* Work closely with the Project Controls Manager, Quantity Surveyors, Planners, and site teams
* Support commercial and operational teams with cost data and financial insights
* Participate in cost review meetings and reporting workshops as required
* Assist with ad‑hoc project controls tasks
Essential criteria:
* Legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland
* Willingness to complete a 5-year background screening as part of the hiring process
* Degree in Accounting or a related disciplineExperience in an accounting or cost analysis role within construction or engineering
* Basic knowledge or previous use of COINS or similar ERP/project cost systems
* Understanding of project cost reporting, accruals, and forecasting concepts
* Strong analytical and numerical skills
* Good understanding of construction project cost control principles
* Basic working knowledge of COINS (or similar construction cost systems
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting
* Ability to work to deadlines in a project‑driven environmen
* Clear and professional communication skills
Desirable criteria:
* Part‑qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent)
* Experience working on construction, infrastructure, or major capital projects
* Familiarity with CVR, cost forecasting, and change control processe
* Experience working within a project controls or commercial environment
* Knowledge of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
