The role
We’re looking for an Engineering Team Lead to join our Insights team. You’ll lead a squad responsible for building and scaling the Insights layer of Nory – forecasting, planning, and decision‑support features used daily by hundreds of multi‑site restaurant operators. Learn more about what we are building here. This is primarily a leadership role focused on enabling team success. Your performance will be measured by the outcomes your team delivers: product impact, engineering quality, and the growth of the engineers you support.
You’ll set direction for the squad, coach engineers, and ensure strong execution across product and technical initiatives. While you’ll remain close to the technical work and may contribute to code when helpful, the role’s primary responsibility is to lead the team and ensure the squad consistently delivers high‑impact outcomes.
We’re stack‑agnostic in our hiring and care most about strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to ramp quickly. Today, our stack includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS (Fargate, Aurora, SQS), Postgres, MongoDB, and Docker.
What you’ll be doing
Lead a cross‑functional engineering squad, setting direction, enabling delivery, and ensuring the team ships high‑quality solutions that solve real customer problems.
Own team outcomes, ensuring your squad consistently delivers impactful work while maintaining strong engineering standards.
Develop engineers through coaching and feedback, helping them grow their technical and product capabilities.
Drive delivery discipline, ensuring the team prioritises effectively, manages scope, and lands work reliably.
Partner closely with Product, Data, and Design to shape solutions that balance statistical accuracy, system complexity, and a simple, intuitive user experience.
