The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process supplier invoices in line with company policies and procedures.
* Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
* Prepare and process payment runs (electronic and manual).
* Monitor and manage aged payables, following up on overdue items.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date AP documentation.
* Post journals, accruals, and prepayments as directed by the Financial Controller.
* Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring timely updates for additions/disposals and correct depreciation.
* Support bank reconciliations, payroll reports, VAT returns, and intercompany reconciliations.
* Assist with reviewing and reconciling key balance sheet accounts.
* Prepare audit schedules and support the year-end close process.
* Liaise with external auditors and help resolve audit queries.
* Assist in compiling data for the preparation of statutory financial statements.
* Generate ad-hoc financial reports upon request.
* Support variance analysis and other financial insights for decision-making.
Key Requirements:
* Part-qualified ACCA (or equivalent), actively studying.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role.
* Solid knowledge of accounts payable and month-end processes.
* Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
* High attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management skills.
* Experience supporting external audits.
* Familiarity with Irish tax legislation (VAT, RCT, PAYE).
* Exposure to AP automation tools or shared services environments.
