* Lead the rollout of data ownership and stewardship models by clarifying roles and responsibilities across various departments within the organisation.
* Manage tools for data cataloguing, metadata management, and data lineage to ensure transparency and traceability of information assets.
* Collaborate closely with business units to ensure customer data is managed ethically in line with privacy regulations such as GDPR.
* Partner with technical teams to govern data assets effectively throughout their lifecycle from creation through archival or deletion.
* Support operational efficiency by contributing to initiatives that reduce risks associated with ineffective data management practices.
* Champion the development of training programmes that enhance employees' understanding of data governance principles.
What You Bring
* At least seven years’ experience in strategy, data governance, data management or related fields within large organisations where you have demonstrated your ability to deliver impactful results.
* Proven track record of implementing successful data governance frameworks and policies that align with organisational goals while meeting regulatory obligations.
* Previous experience as a people leader where you have energised teams through feedback, coaching, communication, and support for professional growth.
* In‑depth knowledge of established data governance frameworks such as DAMA‑DMBOK along with strong familiarity with GDPR or similar privacy regulations.
* Expertise in developing robust approaches for managing data quality including monitoring metrics aligned with business priorities.
* Ability to design practical policies and standards for governing information assets across complex environments involving multiple stakeholders.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills complemented by strong interpersonal abilities for engaging both technical specialists and non‑technical audiences alike.
* Outstanding communication skills enabling you to facilitate discussions around best practices while building consensus among diverse groups.
* Degree in Business, IT, Computer Science or another relevant discipline providing you with solid foundational knowledge for this specialist area.
* Desirable: Experience working in financial services or regulated sectors; familiarity with cloud platforms (especially Azure); certifications such as DAMA CDMP or Collibra Ranger; experience using tools like Collibra or Informatica; exposure to change management related to cultural transformation around data.
