Technician Nursing Simulation Department of Nursing (Kerry Campus) This position will be filled on a full-time permanent basis in accordance with the requirements of the Technological Universities Act 2018. Minimum Requirements An appropriate qualification of at least Level 7 under the NQAI Framework and at least one year post qualification experience. Duties and Responsibilities The technician will provide a combination of technical skills, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of audio and visual systems. They must be familiar with all types of audio/visual equipment, including microphones, soundboards, mixers, screens and projectors. In addition to technical skills, they also possess strong communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders and other team members on a project. The technician must be detail-oriented and have excellent analytical skills to analyse and troubleshoot complex audio and visual equipment problems. They must also work well under pressure, collaborate effectively with other team members, and be flexible regarding work hours, as some events may start and end outside of regular business hours and evening or weekend shifts may be required. This technician plays a critical role in ensuring that audiovisual productions are successful, and their importance is increasingly recognised as audio and visual technology continues to advance particularly within the healthcare industry and education. The main duties are: Setting up audio and visual equipment installing equipment such as microphones, speakers, projectors, and lighting. Testing and checking equipment test and check simulation equipment to ensure that it is in optimal condition. This will prevent any issues during a simulation event. Troubleshooting should any issues arise during the simulation event, he/she will be able to identify and troubleshoot the issue immediately ensuring seamless flow of the event. Maintaining equipment it is crucial to keep the audio and visual equipment functional for ongoing simulation events including regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. Collaborating with the team he/she will work closely with lecturers, the clinical technical team, planners, and/or performers to identify their audio and visual needs. Managing audio and visual cues during multiple simulation events, he/she will manage audio and visual cues includes lighting, sound effects, or other necessary elements to ensure success. Creating and installing systems creating and installing audio, video, and lighting systems for recording of multiple simulation events. This requires an in-depth understanding of technical systems. Collaborating with simulation centre stakeholders effective communication and collaboration are essential. Developing, updating, and maintaining documentation document all the equipment and services provided for each simulation event, keeping track of all the equipment and its condition. Training end-users provide training to end-users on the proper use of audio and visual equipment throughout the department. Keeping up with new technologies it is essential to keep up with the latest technology trends to ensure superior performance during simulation and other audio-visual events. Following health and safety protocols follow health and safety protocols for audio and visual equipment operation and maintenance ensuring safety and preventing any accidents. Undertake such other appropriate duties as may be assigned from time to time by the university authorities. Citizenship Requirement Candidates should note that eligibility to compete for posts is open to citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) or to non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, United Kingdom along with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Swiss citizens under EU agreements may also apply. It is an offence under the Employment Permits Acts 2003 and 2006 for both an employer and an employee if a non-EEA National is in employment without an appropriate employment permit. Employment permit holders can only work for the employer named on the permit.
