Overview
Staff Grade Occupational Therapist (1.0 WTE Full Time, Specified Purpose Contract) — St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS). This is an inpatient mental health setting with a supportive and dynamic team.

Staff Grade Occupational Therapist
(1.0 WTE Full Time, Specified Purpose Contract)
St Patrick’s Mental Health Services is seeking a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to fill a vacancy. The therapist will provide high-quality, person-centred care and carry out clinical and educational duties as assigned by the Senior Occupational Therapist / Occupational Therapist Manager. The Staff Grade Occupational Therapist will report to the Occupational Therapy Manager.
The standard working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday or as agreed (1.0 WTE). This post may require out-of-hours or weekend work.

Location
St Patrick’s Mental Health Services (SPMHS), with facilities at James’s Street, Dublin 8; Lucan; Willow Grove Adolescent Unit; and related sites.
Responsibilities
In carrying out all duties, the occupational therapist should ensure compliance with organizational policies, health & safety policies, procedures, and legislation.
Professional / Clinical
* Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and review of treatment/intervention programmes for adults/older adults with complex mental health needs, both face to face and virtually.
* Facilitate group interventions (face to face and virtually).
* Manage own caseload in line with the needs of the post.
* Collaborate with service users, family, carers, and other staff in treatment planning and provision of support and advice.
* Plan discharge or transition between services as appropriate.
* Document all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports, and discharge summaries in the EHR in accordance with policy.
* Communicate assessment results and recommendations to the team and relevant others.
* Participate as part of a multidisciplinary team and attend family meetings, team meetings, case conferences, ward rounds as designated.
* Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit.
* Seek advice from supervisor/manager when cases exceed scope of competence, in line with best practice and clinical governance.
* Operate within Irish Occupational Therapy practice, CORU, and organisation policy; adhere to professional boundaries and JSF/ Mental Health Commission guidance.
Health & Safety
* Work safely with due care for self and others; adhere to policies and relevant legislation and standards.
* Identify and address risk, document near misses, hazards and accidents, and report as required.
Administrative
* Maintain up-to-date statistics via the EHR and department records.
* Participate in quality improvement standards and policies.
* Contribute to planning and development of the Occupational Therapy Service; participate in audits/outcome measurement as directed.
* Represent the department at meetings and conferences; engage in IT developments related to service administration.
* Keep informed about developments within the organisation and relevant legislation.
* Carry out other duties as assigned by the Senior Occupational Therapist / Occupational Therapist Manager.
