We are seeking an experienced and detail-orientedMechanical Estimatorto join ASEE Group's commercial team. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and compliant cost estimates for mechanical projects. The Mechanical Estimator will play a key role in securing new work for the business, providing technical and commercial expertise throughout the tendering process while supporting and mentoring junior members of the estimating team.Role Responsibilities:Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical engineering projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor elements.Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate estimates.Preparation and submission of competitive bids and tenders.Work closely with the commercial and project management teams to provide technical input and risk assessment.Manage subcontractor and supplier enquiries, ensuring accurate pricing and scope coverage.Review and assess client requirements, identifying opportunities and risks within tendersEnsure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and ASEE Group procedures.Provide handover information and support to project teams following successful bids.Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and databases.Skills & Competencies:Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installations, and engineering practices.Numerical Accuracy: Highly proficient in cost analysis, estimating, and financial calculations.Commercial Awareness: Understands contract terms, procurement processes, and market conditions.Attention to Detail: Produces precise and compliant estimates with minimal errors.Leadership: Capable of mentoring and developing junior estimators.Communication: Clear and confident communicator with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.Organisation: Able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.Problem-Solving: Anticipates risks in bids and develops effective solutions.Collaboration: Works effectively with commercial, engineering, and project colleagues.Resilience: Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Qualifications & Experience:Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator.Strong track record in preparing cost estimates and winning bids in M&E, construction, or infrastructure sectors.Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, industry codes, and standards.Experience in tendering for large-scale mechanical projects.Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative commercial team.
