This role will primarily involve working on specific research challenges, including the development of new assay kit and enzyme products. The role holder will take responsibility for the management of their own R&D projects and proactively work towards their completion within agreed timeframes. The role requires the candidate to have good laboratory skills and a good knowledge of biochemical assays and their applications. The role also requires excellent attention to detail, problem solving, record keeping, organisational, communicative, inter-personal, and multi-tasking abilities. The candidate must be a proactive team player with the ability to work on their own initiative.Research and Development TasksNew product developmentDevelop and launch new products in conformance with Neogen NPI ProcessDevelop timelines for product development within the Neogen R&D frameworkLiaise with Product Managers to develop an understanding of the product applicationUse literature to improve technical understanding of the projectPlan and execute experiments as requiredOptimize new product with a focus on customer requirementTroubleshoot assays as requiredDevelop product formulations based on stability data and customer needsManage stability trials of new productsMaintain excellent records using electronic lab notebook systemLiaise with other departments during this process as requiredNew product introductionPrepare new product documentation (assay protocols, production sheets etc.)Record progress by use of cross-company checklistsLiaise with other teams as required during product release processExisting product developmentInvestigate and troubleshoot issues with existing products as requiredDevelop improvements to existing methodologyGeneralPresent research findings to Line Manager or R&D directorsParticipate in the supervision and training of new staff as requiredAdhere to Health and Safety policy and guidelines at all timesPrepare relevant documentation, including technical reports, protocols, SOPS etc.Contribute to the preparation of weekly and monthly cross company reportsProvide scientific support to other departments and teamsLiaise effectively and regularly with other R&D groups within NeogenActively participate in conference calls and communicate confidently with colleaguesLiaise effectively with Product Management and Sales teams.Participate in regular organised meetings to discuss active projects and new productsUndertake additional tasks and duties as the business requiresOccasionally it may be necessary to travel as part of this role - this will be discussed prior to trips being bookedCome Be Part Of A Mission that MattersFrom inside the farm gate to our dinner plates, Neogen protects the world's food supply.
