The Head Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen and all back-of-house areas, managing the team of kitchen porters, and supporting the kitchen team in ensuring efficient kitchen operations. This role plays a vital part in upholding food safety standards and keeping the kitchen running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and supervise the kitchen porter team to ensure all cleaning duties are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
* Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces are cleaned and sanitised according to hygiene regulations.
* Manage the dishwashing area and maintain proper functioning of cleaning machinery.
* Delegate tasks, and monitor performance of kitchen porters.
* Maintain stock of cleaning supplies
* Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling procedures are followed.
* Liaise with chefs and front-of-house staff to support smooth service during busy periods.
* Train new kitchen porters on cleaning protocols and safety procedures.
* Carry out deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis.
* Ensure all health & safety and food hygiene policies are adhered to.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar role.
* Experience in a supervisory or team leader position preferred.
* Understanding of kitchen hygiene and health & safety standards.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to lead a team and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Physically fit and able to carry out manual tasks.
* Flexible and willing to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or 2).
* Health & Safety training.
