An opportunity exists for a detail-oriented and experienced Automation / Operational Technology (OT) Engineer to design, program, and maintain advanced control systems across the utilities and broader industrial sectors.This role involves managing full project lifecycles-from initial design and development to on-site commissioning and post-installation support.
Ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, adapting to evolving technologies, and working directly with clients in operational environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and support OT systems, including PLCs, SCADA, DCS, HMIs, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.
).Program control systems using platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Schneider EcoStruxure, and others.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in control systems and instrumentation.Develop and maintain technical documentation, including electrical schematics and user manuals.Conduct FAT/SAT, perform on-site installation, and provide ongoing technical support.Optimise existing systems for performance, safety, and maintainability.Ensure compliance with relevant industry and safety standards (e.g., IEC, ISO, NFPA).RequirementsDegree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.Minimum of 5 years' experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.Proficiency in one or more PLC/SCADA platforms.Understanding of protocol conversion and networking infrastructure.Ability to read and create technical drawings and schematics.Willingness to travel for commissioning and support.Apply today, by sending your CV and I will contact you for a discussion.Contact Aine ODwyer on or email for a confidential chatPlease note: due to current time constraints and travel restrictions, only candidates located in Ireland with full rights to work will be considered for this position.
